Victorious of Buffalo -- Pagaruyung Palace

Wood carving motives on the wall

I traveled to West Sumatra, Indonesia this summer and visited the Pagaruyung Palace. It has been rebuilt and supposedly replicates the palace of a kingdom that was established 1347 by Adityawarman. The palace which now serves as a museum, was just restored a few years ago after being destroyed by lightning. The second picture is the traditional wood carving motive on the palace's wall.

The upward curved roof represents the common traditional local minangkabau (the name of local tribe) houses, imitating the water-bufallo's horns. It has to do with the legend of a victory of small water buffalo against a strong, aggressive water buffalo belongs to the enemy of neighboring kingdom.

Avanos is a small village where a man with ceramic-making skill will be counted a lot when he intends to propose a woman to marry. The man should be able to make the lid and container fit together without measure them! Such skillful man will be the most wanted person to marry in this village...

A Breathtaking Landscape from A Balloon Ride

I 'm sure it was worth taking this balloon trip in one of the most amazing landscapes in the world, Cappadocia, Turkey. A couple months later, I heard a balloon accident for the first time in this region. But most of balloon trip is quite safe here--and specially if we follow the safety standard as explained before we fly....At least, we took off and landed safely...

The history of the Pirita Convent dates back to XV century. It operated in Pirita area, Estonia until the forces of Ivan the Terrible destroyed it during the Livonian war in 1577.
